The Doll's House (2019)

Installation, film and performance.

Documentation from the 2019 Glasgow School of Art Graduate Degree Show.

The Doll's House subverts the position of the heteronormative lens on societal normality. Using theatrical play and 'Clowning' , the artist challenges heteronormative and consumeristic ideals our society continues to endorse, by bringing a little queerness to its household

Using the domain of domesticity as their back drop, Dick explores binary hierarchies and there links to power and dominance: 'men' vs 'women', success vs failure, winners vs losers, dominant vs passive.

Through a series of repetitive films and chores the artist blurs lines between realms to encourage a critique of what is deemed to be 'normal'.
